Jim was worried about the ballast shifting in the nosecone.
I drilled a 1/8" hole in both sides of the "service module" and
installed a 1/8" brass rod all the way across.

|
Then 25 pounds of lead shot was installed into the nose using several cups of epoxy.

|
The bulkhead and u-bolt seat deep inside the nosecone.
It is glued into the nosecone using lots of epoxy mixed
with a strengthening filler as per the manufacturer's
instructions.

The shoulder was then pierced in four spots for the shear pins.
I will evaluate the need for thin brass sheet over the holes to reinforce them
and to help shear the pins.

|
In the meantime all shear pin holes have had CA wicked into them
and the shearing surfaces of cardboard tubes have also been treated with CA.
